ok, listen.

i've have this quote by dave eggers that i found one day while surfing around amazon. it's part of the forward that he wrote for a book by the guy that does that one comic strip that you can find in a free newspaper, in any given city, no matter where you are. and you definitely know the one i'm talking about.

right? the one with the television news reporters and the penguin? right.

and it's there, right now. no matter where you are, what city you are in, it's there. sitting in whatever paper it is that your town calls hip. it's there. go look.

anyway, the quote. the quote i found and stuck in an untitled notepad file on my desktop and it's been sitting there for almost two weeks and i keep forgetting to put it here. so,

so now i'm going to put it here. here it is:

...my point is you have to love and care about everything and anyone before you can be upset about anything at all. and so the crankiest asshole-bastards, including the filthy man who sits on my steps at night, yelling at passersby about betrayal and armageddon, well, that stinky dirt-encrusted man is probably the most loving man the world has yet known. or at least he might be. wouldn't that make a good story?

so, there you go. i thought it was funny. i was going to try and work it into something sometime, but i kept forgetting and i just wanted to get it over and done with. you know? yeah.

anyway, dave eggers. i love dave eggers. that short story that he wrote in the nick hornby collection? about the dog running? that was just so so good.

anyway, before sunrise is on sundance right now. gotta run.

byebye.
